Seminar Leading in a Complex World — Systems Thinking in Management
Goals:
- understand and execute the systems thinking management circle / approach
- view your own organization / department from a bird´s view
- assess your leadership competencies as a “systemic leader”
- conduct a current state assessment of the one´s own department
- define key issues to improve the department´s effectiveness
Content:
1st phase (2,5 days): Systemic Leadership
- Principles of systemic leadership thinking
- New management roles — new personal competencies
- Fundamental capabilities and leadership practices needed to be an effective systemic leader
- Centering your leadership-circle of success
- Self assessment of the participants´ role competencies as systemic leaders
- Collaborating across functions
- Current state assessment tool (Homework: Conduct systemic assessment of the participants´ own department)
2nd phase: (1 day) Wrap-up Session
- Present and discuss results of the current state assessment done by the participants within their departments
- Define key issues for development derived from the current state assessment
3rd phase (2 days) Systemic Management
- Systemic management process — systemic management cycle
- Linking people, strategy and performance
- Improve performance — how?
- Customer focused systems thinking model to creating high performance
- Leading and mastering change and development
Method:
- Short lectures
- One-to-one and group work
- Coaching/case studies from the participants every day work
- Tools to be used as practical exercise aligned to participants´ topic management task
Participants: Senior Management
The seminar is practice-oriented but also delivers some theoretical input.
